What Is Water Polo?

What Your Athlete Will Learn

Water Polo is a combination of basketball, soccer, hockey and swimming. It requires three fundamental skills: swimming, treading water and passing (ball skills). Six field players swim, tread, pass and shoot to score into a net defended by a goalie. Players are frequently swapped in and out, so there will be plenty of playing time for everyone.

Water Polo is open to all members. There are no tryouts, and all are welcome regardless of experience or ability. Teams are coed and compete against like-aged opponents. There are teams for 10 and under, 12 and under, 14 and under and 15 and up.

Water Polo Team Schedule and Season Details

Water Polo Team Practice Schedule:

Practices will start on Monday July 27th and end August 23rd.
Practices will be Mon-Fri, for one hour, between 8:00-10:30AM. Exact age group time slots are TBD

Athlete Safety Certificate of Completion (Required for Parents and Athletes)

2026 Water Polo Games (each age group will have one gameday per week):

12 & Under Thursdays
10 & Under Fridays
13-14 games Saturdays
15 & Over games Sundays.

Game Timing - All game days begin at 8:00AM and will be completed by noon.

2026 Water Polo Tournament (each age group will have one day for tournament play)

August 19th through August 23rd

Games begin at 8:00am and will be completed by 2:00pm or 3:00pm.

2026 Championship games will be held on August 23rd

Water Polo Team Banquet: TBD

2026 PRICING:

Open to athletes ages 8-17 with any Midlakes membership.

$218 flat fee per athlete

Midlakes Fee of $18 included in fee paid to WSC.
